We characterize linear transformations on the matrix algebra over an
arbitrary field with characteristic not equal to $2$ that are monotone with
respect to the $\$\; \backslash overset\; \{\backslash sharp\; \}\{\backslash leq\; \}\; \$$- or $\$\; \backslash overset\; \{\backslash mathrm\; \{cn\}\}\{\backslash leq\; \}\; \$$-order.
