The concept of the derived $$p-length for finite $$p-soluble groups is introduced and its elementary properties are described. The dependence between the $$p-length, nilpotent $$p-length, and derived $$p-length, and also between the derived and nilpotent lengths of a $$p-Hall subgroup is determined.
